The newly released 6" Weedless Huddleston Swimbaits have quickly become one of the hottest new products we have seen hit the market this year. Ken Huddleston and his staff really did their homework when it came to the testing and eventual development of the weedless technology of this swimbait. First of all, there were no changes in the overall shape & swimming action of the bait. Each swimbait features the Vortex tail & great attention to detail that has made Huddleston a legendary swimbait producer. What is different though, is a 5/0 jig hook that is molded completely concealed inside the bait along with an air pocket that allows the body to collapse upon hook set. Also, the line tie is recessed inside the bait which allows you to not have to clean the "snot" or slimy algae, that tends to build up on an exposed line tie of swimbaits. If you run your finger lightly over the back of the 6" weedless Huddleston it feels smooth, if you add just a slight bit of pressure, you can feel the hook point just underneath the surface. Prior to field testing this swimbait, I have to admit I was a bit skeptical as to what the hook up ratio and actual weedlessness would be. After having thrown & caught fish on this swimbait, I have to tell you I was very pleased with both the hook up ratio & the overall weedless ability. Let's face it, nothing is 100% weedless but this swimbait comes pretty darn close. I threw this thing in the most hardcore structure I could find & could not get it to snag up. I fished this bait in the tules, rocks, flooded brush, standing trees, submerged trees, chunk rock, rip rap, grass beds, and docks and it passed thru with flying colors. I was also very pleased at the hook up ratio of this swimbait. I have boated over twenty bass ranging from 2lbs to 7lbs on this bait and every single one has stayed buttoned and not one has spit the bait after being hooked. Another great aspect of this swimbait is it's overall durability. Other than some teeth marks, these weedless huddlestons really stay together quite nice, mine has not ripped or torn in any way. As a matter of fact, the only thing that was torn up was my thumb, and we all know that is a good thing! In closing, If you have not tied one on yet, I would highly recommend it to all swimbait fishing enthusiasts and serious tournament fisherman. Good Fishing, Troy Bellah SBN:Staff
