“The 8-inch swimbait flies through the air and impacts the water with a splash heard around the lake. After letting the bait sink a few seconds, the angler begins a slow methodical retrieve – the bait barely under the surface.
Fishing swimbaits at night has been the topic of many threads in the past few months on SwimbaitNation as well as other popular bass fishing websites. Questions asked have run the full spectrum of subjects including what time of year is best to what types of lakes are best. I love bass fishing at night, I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember and I get really revved up just thinking about it. Fishing at night is enjoyable for many reasons. Big bass can get very active at night, especially on highly pressured clear water systems, and I usually have great confidence on each outing that I have the chance of catching a fish of a lifetime. A nice benefit is having the lake to yourself.
The Mattlures "Hardbass" is 7 1/2 inches long and weighs in at 3 1/2 to 4 ounces and will be available in 3 different sink rates, floating, slow sinking and fast sinking. The Hardbass will offer swimbait enthusiasts several different color variations to choose from and possibly even a billed version.
The bait will be equipped with top quality components including Owner 1/0 ST41 Trebles with xtra heavy musky grade split rings. The bait has already been tested for a little over a year and has gone through several different prototypes. I am now satisfied with my final version as it gets the big bites I designed it for. The planned release date will be late summer 09, price is TBD
